HOLI SKIN CARE by expert Dermatologists at Veritaas Clinic & Diagnostic Centre
As the festival of colour
approaches, protect your skin against harmful colours. Synthetic colours may
cause skin irritation, rashes or allergies . Apart from this washing off
colours of Holi would leave the skin dry and irritated. Before stepping out to
play Holi you need to :-
Pre-Wash your hair – If you don’t when the pre-dirt mixes with colours,
it can further damage your hair making it rougher and vulnerable to breaking.
So wash and condition your hair well before playing with colours. Veritaas Multi Specialty Clinic in Gurgaon
Sunscreen – Don’t forget to apply sunscreen before playing Holi to
prevent tanning outside.
Oil – The synthetic colours available in the market may
contain harmful chemicals and even glass particles. Apply a thick coat of oil
on your skin and hair an hour before stepping out. The oil acts as a protective
layer and makes it easier for the colour to come off later. Don’t miss out on
places like behind your ear, between finger tips and near your finger nails.
Give yourself a thorough head massage with coconut or olive oil .to prevent the
colour from settling on your scalp. Dryness also makes your skin and hair more
vulnerable to toxic colours, making it easier for the colours to penetrate deep
into your skin. An oil therapy will help avoid this.
Dressing for Holi – Reduce skin exposure. Wear full sleeved and full
length clothing to give your skin maximum protection from colours. Wear cotton
clothes that completely protect the skin from the colours. Tie up your hair in
a bun, this will ensure maximum protection to your hair and scalp. Use an
oversized pair of sunglasses that will protect your eyes from the direct
exposure to colour.
Use Natural colours – Use safe, non-toxic and natural colours are far as
possible. Chemicals-less colours are easier to wash off. Moreover, they do not
cause harm to your skin. A good option is to make colours yourself at home,
like they used to in the good old days.
Cleansing – After playing, remember not to use harsh soaps to get rid
of the colours from your skin as it may irritate and dry the skin further. Do
not wash your face with soap immediately; because its alkaline nature causes
further dryness. Use a cleansing cream or lotion instead which will soothe the
skin while cleaning and removing off the colours. Rinse your hair with plenty
of water to wash away the dry colours and tiny particles of mica. Use a mild
natural shampoo which deeply cleanses the hair without causing further damage.
You can add a juice of a lemon to a mug of water and use it as a last
rinse. This helps to restore the acid-alkaline balance of the scalp. Visit Us!
